Abersoch and the Llyn Peninsula area is a popular spot for watersports enthusiasts with great locations, shops and conditions what more could you want!. Great beaches for surfers and bodyboarders are found at Porth Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth), Porth Ceiriad and Porth Oer, these beaches that are exposed to the regular Atlantic swells. Water quality in the Abersoch bays are generally very good, the water quality at Porth Neigwl – Hells Mouth is one of the best in Wales according to the Environment Agency. A Lifeboat is stationed at Abersoch.
We are lucky to have great beaches on the peninsula that sometimes offer the most clean surf in a variety of wind directions. The main surf locations are Porth Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth) and Porth Oer (Whistling Sands)

All surf beaches have rip currents or rip tides – otherwise known as rips. Rips can be found on any beach where there are waves breaking they are currents running out to sea. These Rips can take swimmers or inexperienced body boarders and surfers from shallow water out beyond their depth fast.
